One of four octets with a Dune theme (the other three - for winds, 4 pianos, and percussion - were never performed). I've always admired Krzysztof Penderecki way with strings and Steve Reich's use of time, hence Folding Space. While FS was performed at my Graduate Recital, the performance excerpt you can hear below was recorded at a concert two years earlier, eerily, during the first night of the LA riots.
